1. What is root canal’s treatment at microscope?

With the advancement and development of modern dentistry, the use of dental microscopy in canal treatments has become very important. With its help, the practitioner can identify additional canal sand thus the chances of success increase considerably. The dentist can also remove fractured instruments on the canal, identify any fracture or root cracks that compromise a canal treatment.
As treatment methods evolve, there are more and more tools to increase success and ease the work flow of the doctor. These important tools include the dental laser.

Following many studies, the effectiveness of dental laser canals treatment has been demonstrated. It is used in the stage of disinfection of the canals and its use under the microscope gives the doctor better control of the canals walls disinfection and increases the chances of success of the endodontic intervention.

2. What are the benefits of laser assisted canal’s treatment?

When used, the dental laser emits a luminous ray that cleans the soft and hard tissue from the oral cavity or alters its structure. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has approved the use of laser in dentistry and has made an important contribution to canal treatment, caries treatment (without anesthesia and painlessness), gingivitis treatment, periodontal disease, and so on.

The effects of the laser in endodontic treatment have been confirmed and provide a critical contribution to disinfection of canals especially in complicated cases when teeth present old diseases, infections, purulent secretions, and so on.
The success of a laser-assisted canal treatment is given by the efficiency with which the root canals, root canal obstruction, quality of coronary restoration (obturation or dental crown) are disinfected and performed.

Classic root canal treatment consists of cleaning with special instruments and disinfecting with antiseptic solutions. Although these solutions successfully irrigate the main canal / canals, the auxiliary canals are often left untouched by both mechanical and solution tools. Here laser therapy and ozonotherapy are involved.

The dental laser is inserted into the canal and is walked through its entire length using circular movements. Thus, the laser beam reaches all the walls of the canal and enters and disinfects the narrowest canals. In addition to the laser, the ozone lamp emitting this gas has the ability to penetrate and disinfect the most difficult accessible spaces in the depth of the channels.

3. How important is the endodontist in root canal’s treatment?

Although not all canal’s treatments require the intervention of a specialist, it is preferable to opt for his help. An endodontist specialist can better manage unexpected or difficult situations, narrow or curved root canals and will be armed with the necessary patience to complete a perfect laser assisted canal treatment. Although it is a one-time intervention (1-3 hours), it can provide treatment success and can conserve the tooth for a long time.

4. What does a correct root canal treatment require?

Isolation of the tooth
A properly assisted laser channel treatment can not be done without adequate isolation of the treated tooth. In most cases this involves the use of dental teeth in the wool rolls. Thus, we can provide a very effective barrier between the treated tooth channels and the bacteria in the saliva and oral cavity.
Channel identification
Before treatment, channel opening must be found. Although it is an easy operation for a specialist (especially under the microscope), in some cases the channels are searched in the wrong places and perforations can be made to compromise or weaken the tooth.
Identify the correct number of channels
A more common problem is the failure of one or more channels. This can translate into post-operative pain after passing anesthesia or over time because the uninfected dental pulp from the canals is infected and there are lesions at the tip of the root that can turn into abscess.
Incomplete channel handling
As with punctual “b”, non-deviation of the entire nerve from one or more channels can result in the occurrence of a granuloma or cyst to the tooth.
Channel disinfection
Along with channeling all their length, this stage is of major importance! Here comes laser disinfection that has been proven to kill bacteria that can not be removed as effectively by classical methods.
Fracture of instruments on channels
Occasionally it may happen that a needle is fractured on the channels. This is an accident that can occur and often has no complications if the canal has been thoroughly disinfected and disinfected. Even so this accident can be avoided by a specialist who knows how to judge the difficulty of the case, manage the treatment well, has patience and uses the appropriate ones. When needed, those fractured can be removed by microscope.

5. How much does laser help us in the microscope canal treatment procedure?

To begin with, the integration of the microscope into the canal treatment aids to the endodontic success. With the help of the microscope, additional canals can be identified and root canal walls can be observed in many cases over their entire length. Thus, when using the microscope laser in channel disinfection, it can be done in depth and in detail.
